We’re SO excited to welcome our first EVER Youth Board at Chester Zoo. This dynamic group of young people from a multitude of backgrounds, are on a mission to empower young people to take action for wildlife.

What does Chester Zoo mean to you?

Chester Zoo means so much to me as I am a final year Zoology student at the University of Chester, so for me seeing the work of the zoo and what it is trying to achieve truly is inspiring. Seeing how the zoo works with local and international projects inspires my love for conservation and compels me to contribute towards the zoo’s aims and efforts in any way that I can.

Why do you want to support our Chester Zoo Youth Board team?

I want to support Chester Zoo’s Youth Board team because as a young person myself, I feel like I have a mission to encourage and support other young people in conservation. As a previous town councillor who put youth communities first, the Youth Board provides me with the opportunity to support them in working towards a career in conservation. Additionally, the Youth Board allows me to collaborate with like-minded members and the zoo to advocate towards a shared goal.

What do you hope to achieve from your role on the Chester Zoo’s Youth Board?

I hope that during my time on the Youth Board, I will be able to provide a voice for the next generation and support Chester Zoo in its mission to educate and support younger communities. As a generation we are rightfully becoming more aware about conserving wildlife for the future, and only by working together can we achieve positive change.

What would you communicate to your peers to inform and engage them into conservation projects within Chester Zoo and their wider local communities?

To engage my peers in conservation projects at Chester Zoo and in our local communities, I would emphasize the importance of wildlife conservation and the exciting opportunities available. Through my social media platforms, like LinkedIn, I would actively promote upcoming opportunities and celebrate the successes of the conservation projects at the zoo and in the wider local community. The goal of doing this would be to reach more of my peers and inspire them to engage with the conservation projects. Together, we can create a better future for all species.

NOW is the time to ACT FOR WILDLIFE. Conservation is CRITICAL; species are under threat. TOGETHER we can make a BIG difference. Take action TODAY and join us in PREVENTING EXTINCTION.
